What is Laser Therapy?
Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is a high-tech treatment option that is quick, painless and provides a great alternative to pain-relieving drugs.
The very first instance of laser light therapy was in 1960, shortly after the laser was invented. During an experiment, scientist Endre Mester noticed that incisions on the skin of animals healed more quickly when exposed to a laser.
Over the years, this technology has been fine-tuned to become what it is today – a reliable and safe way to treat inflammation and pain. It’s so gentle it can even be used before, during and after surgery to help maintain tissue health, heal damage and aid the growth of new tissue.
Light Force laser therapy has been clinically proven to be highly effective, through thousands of scientific studies and clinical trials and is the choice of over 50 professional and collegiate athletic teams.
How Does Laser Therapy Work?
Our therapy laser gently targets the affected muscles, ligaments and surrounding tissues to promote healing on a cellular level.
Also known as Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBM), laser therapy uses light energy to stimulate or inhibit cell function. There’s a whole lot of complex science behind it. Basically, it uses a carefully measured dose of light that sends photons into the tissue. Those photons promote good cellular metabolism, creating a lot of activity in your cells. This positive change reduces inflammation and decreases your pain, all while kick-starting the natural healing process.
Why Choose Laser Therapy?
Medical therapy lasers are completely safe. They’re FDA regulated and used worldwide in rehabilitation centres, sports clinics, chiropractic clinics and of course, physiotherapy clinics.
Low-Level Laser treatments are fast – often only 10-15 minutes long! This makes it so easy to fit your needed treatments into a busy schedule so you can prioritize your health and well-being.
Your physiotherapist or chiropractor will be able to determine the necessary length and strength of treatment, based on your body’s unique characteristics and the acute conditions or chronic conditions being treated. You can experience long-lasting pain relief without a huge investment of time.
Laser therapy is also non-invasive. Our clients generally only feel a soothing warmth (if they feel anything at all). For clients who opt for a massage
ball attachment on the laser therapy wand, they’ll feel a really nice massage while the laser beams work their magic.
Unlike medication, laser therapy also has no adverse effects. Not only that, but it can begin to effectively heal even chronic conditions after only a couple of treatments.
Among its many other benefits, laser therapy has also been shown to increase serotonin (happiness hormone) levels! This increase in serotonin can provide relief from pain while boosting your mood.
